You’ve heard it time and time again: exfoliation is good for your skin. True, but there are many misconceptions regarding exfoliation and we want to set the record straight. And although everyone’s unique exfoliation needs may vary, here are the basics.
#1 - Avoid microbeads and harsh facial scrubs.
These can actually damage your skin because they can remove too many surface skin cells. You can achieve a smoother, clearer and healthier complexion using a gentle exfoliating serum – one that doesn’t damage your healthy skin cells.

#2 - Try a leave-on exfoliant.
Instead of using scrubs and beads, apply an exfoliating serum, like Exfol +, before bed and leave it on overnight. The serum absorbs into your skin and works by lifting away dull and devitalized skin cells, instead of scrubbing them off. Just rinse in the morning and you’ll start to see your skin looking smoother and your pores looking smaller (think Nicole Kidman – at least according to this product review!).

#3 - Exfoliate 2-3x each week.
All products are different so be sure to check the label. For instance, an exfoliating serum like Exfol + is gentle enough to use nightly. That said, we find that as a general rule of thumb exfoliating 2 to 3 times per week hits the spot. However, if you’re still using an exfoliating scrub – we get it, everyone’s skin is different and this might be what works for you – protect your skin by gently scrubbing no more than 2 to 3 times per week.

BONUS:

For those of you that have tried Exfol + and love the gentle feeling of a leave-on exfoliant, then we’ve got a bonus tip for you! Maximize your overnight skin renewal routine by layering on Vita C serum for an even brighter, healthier complexion. You can ‘cocktail’ these two serums together to apply at once and save time—who knew skin care could be so easy?
